Build Muscle, Lose Weight or Both with Protein.

January 13, 2012 admin Health and Fitness

There are many different reasons that people start to diet. Whether they are wanting to lose weight, gain muscle, have an intolerance or other health reasons – there are plenty of different (and specific) diets on the market.

However when it comes to the first two reasons, weight loss and muscle gain, the protein diet (or high protein low carb diet as it is also known) is a very popular choice.

Gaining popularity worldwide lately due to author Tim Ferriss best seller, the Four Hour Body, where he promotes the diet – and backs it up with some dramatic case studies.

The premise of the high protein diet is simple. Eat more protein, eat less carbs and sugars. The idea is simple. The majority of weight gain is caused by eating fatty carbohydrates and sugary foods, cut these foods from your diet and replace them with real energy foods and you should start to see impressive weight loss.

As protein is also well know for muscle gain, the increase in protein intake (combined with physical activity), should result in increased muscle mass.
